2022 Candidate Schedule-
The Ambassador Committee will chaperone and provide transportation to and from all events. Ambassador application and agreement must be submitted prior to attending events.
All events are optional except Rockford River Days weekend, but are highly encouraged to have the full Candidate experience!
Friday, June 10 2:00-6:00 pm - Library Summer Reading Program Kickoff
Candidates choose a shift 2-4 or 4-6. Sign up for shift with Heather. Wear a sundress. We will be signing kids up for the summer reading program and help serve ice cream treats.
Friday, June 17th - Candidate & Parent Night 4-10:00pm at Heather’s home 5553 Basswood Circle, Rockford, MN 55373 We will start by driving around town and taking pictures with our local sponsors. We will then head back to Heather’s for a taco in a bag dinner. We will also decorate car sign posters, practice fish bowl questions, and discuss in detail the weekend of Rockford River Days and your speeches. Parents should plan to join us at 6:30 for an informational meeting. Please wear a sundress for the pictures and bring comfy clothes to change into. Also, you can bring a treat/snack to share for later.
Tuesday, June 21st 6 pm – River Days meeting & Photo Shoot
The meeting will only take about 10 minutes. It is held in the Riverside Park building. Candidates will introduce themselves to the committee and tell them why they would like to be a Rockford Ambassador. We will do the shoot immediately following the River Days meeting at Riverside Park. Wear a sundress & sash for the meeting. These will be headshots for the newspaper and coronation program. For the shoot we will provide you with a black v-neck cotton tee. Feel free to wear any necklace or earings of your choice. Remember this is for the newspaper, coronation program and included with judges’ packet. Any bottoms would be fine since only a headshot.
Sunday, June 26th - Buffalo Cub Foods Fundraiser
Fundraise from 11:00 - 3:00 pm. Candidates choose a shift 11-1 or 1-3. Sign up for shift with Heather. We will bag groceries for tips. Attire: candidate t-shirts and black shorts, capris or pants. (no yoga style pants). Closed toed shoes and hair worn up.
Wednesday, July 6th – Feed My Starving Children
We will meet at Heather’s 5553 Basswood Circle in Rockford at 1pm. The event starts at 2pm and lasts a few hours. I have not confirmed which location yet, but I will update asap. Attire: Candidate t-shirts and choice of pants, shorts (at discussed length) or capris. Bring your sash along for a photo.
Friday, July 8th – Movie in the Park (Riverside Park)
The Ambassadors host this annual event. We will sell candy, pop, water and popcorn as a fundraiser. Don’t forget to bring your tickets to sell to the crowd. Attire: Candidate t-shirts, sashes and black shorts (discussed length), capris or pants. (no yoga style pants). Time: Arrive to set up 5pm. Movie begins at dusk (roughly 9:15pm). After the movie we tear down the big screen and clean up. We will not be done till roughly 11:30pm.
Tuesday, July 12th - Sparkle Night at the MN Twins
We will meet at Riverside park at 3:30pm to pass out tickets and carpool. We will return around 11pm. Wear a Twins t-shirt or your Candidate t-shirt, sash and choice of pants, shorts (at discussed length) or capris. Jean material ok for this event ONLY! Must have your sash to be able to go on the field! NO heals! We recommend sunglasses and sunscreen. No chaperone needed. Pre ordered ticket required, $27 per person. Part of the proceeds come back to us and part to Masonic Children’s Hospital as a fundraiser. Families welcome (no boyfriends). Only Royalty and candidates can go on field. All ticket money submitted to Heather by June 15th .
Wednesday, July 13th 10:20-11:30 – Read to kids at the Rockford Library
Pick your favorite book to read to the kids. Bring your own or come early and find a fav. Attire: Sundress and sash.
Thursday, July 21st Minneapolis Aquatennial Meet the Candidates
This is an important event to see the best speeches in the state to help prepare your own for River Days. We will cheer on Ella😊 We will leave Rockford at 8:00 am and return around 4:00 pm. Meet at Heather’s house: 5553 Basswood Circle in Rockford. We will carpool. No chaperone needed. Attire: Sundress (fyi, we usually run into our judges).
Tuesday, August 2nd - National Night Out
We will start at 6pm in Greenfield Park and be back to Rockford Riverside Park by 7 to start our annual kickball game. We will finish game at 8pm. Meet at Heather’s house at 5:45 to carpool. The park will have activities and a free will donation dinner is served. Attire: candidate t-shirts, sashes and black shorts (discussed length), capris or pants. (no yoga style pants). Don’t forget tennis shoes for the game!
(Mandatory) Friday, August 12th - Sunday, August 14th - Rockford River Days!!!
A detailed schedule of events will be distributed asap. Plan on Friday beginning around 4 pm and ending after the Coronation on Sunday about 7pm.
*** I would like to add an event to volunteer at the Thrift Store and possibly one additional, visiting another community event. We will discuss a date at our candidate event. Attire: Candidate shirts and black bottoms.
